MetaFleursDC Editor, Ashley Greer
Ashley Greer is a native Washingtonian best known publicly as a local celebrity florist, she has never fit comfortably inside any box.
Over the years, she has written dozens of articles and short stories, appeared on network television for more than a decade, and become an active member of the DC spoken word and poetry community. Most recently, she found herself squarely in the crosshairs over her coverage of the Potomac Interceptor Crisis.
As Editor of MetaFleurs, Ashley approaches journalism as both cultural observation and civic responsibility. MetaFleurs embodies her belief in free speech, intellectual curiosity, and the pursuit of justice — even when uncomfortable, unpopular, or inconvenient.
Fiat justitia, ruat caelum — “Though the heavens may fall, let justice be done.” It was the phrase Ashley’s grandfather lived by, and one she hopes to pass down to her son, Finnley.
Incurably and incorrigibly curious, Ashley is a member of the DAR Constitution Chapter, Scottish Clan Gregor, and the National Cathedral Flower Guild. She is also the co-founder and creative visionary behind Art in Bloom DC, a graduate of Holton-Arms School and Pomona College, and the owner of Atelier Ashley Flowers.
She has also, notably, been escorted out of both the Sistine Chapel and the White House.
Ashley maintains a healthy skepticism toward spelling, grammar, and many forms of institutional gatekeeping, viewing them less as markers of intelligence and more as artifacts of outdated elitism. “Whose language are you spelling anyway?” remains a question she considers worth asking.
She has been rejected by more news outlets than have published her work — a statistic she is actively and enthusiastically trying to reverse.
Ashley also keeps a running list of “Life Goals.” Near the top: bringing her great-uncle, Lt. Thomas W. Greer, MIA/KIA in Korea, home from his suspected location just beyond the DMZ in North Korea — and finding an acceptable application for quantum entanglement.
