Art in Bloom DCDC

Art in Bloom DC is an annual celebration of fine art, floral design, and the extraordinary creative talent of Washington, D.C.’s floral community. The exhibition invites floral designers to select works from the museum’s collection and create original botanical interpretations—transforming the galleries into a conversation between art, history, and flowers.

Ashley Greer is a co-founder and the original visionary behind Art in Bloom DC. Inspired early in her floral career by Bouquets to Art at San Francisco’s de Young Museum and Art in Bloom at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Greer spent years imagining a similar exhibition for Washington. Her vision was not only to bring Art in Bloom to the nation’s capital, but to create a platform that celebrated floral designers as artists in their own right and preserved their work beyond the brief life of the flowers themselves.

That vision ultimately found a home at Anderson House through a partnership with Glenn Hennessey, with Margot Fischer joining Greer and Hennessey as the third co-founder. Together, their collaboration transformed a long-held idea into what is now Art in Bloom DC—an annual exhibition rooted in art, flowers, community, and the creative spirit of Washington.
